Why Are We Running

Polk County residents have approached us with concerns about the direction of the SW Polk Fire district.   We have also been concerned about the direction of the district, and want to help strengthen and improve our fire service for all Polk County residents.  We believe we have the skills and solutions to help rebuild the fire district and provide solutions to the current issues facing the district.

Our Goals

Empower Our Firefighters

Provide our career and volunteer staff the resources and support they need to provide professional, safe, excellent service to the community.  Rebuild the volunteer program for both suppression firefighters and Fire Corps support positions.  Make sure staffing allows for adequate response levels for emergencies with our fire district.

Fiscal Responsibility

Use the funds from the SW Polk Fire residents in a responsible manner.   Live within the budget provided, and look for ways to supplement the tax payer funds with grants and innovative programs.   Plan ahead to avoid funding gaps and avoidable surprises.

Transparency

Make it easy for our residents to find information on SW Polk Fire finances and operations.   Proactively provide information on meetings, or other happenings through consistent use of multiple means of communication.

Community Engagement

  • Engage with our community through service programs and community events.  Invite the public into our fire stations for community events and assist in community events away from the firehouse.

__________________________________________

Hello, I am Daniel Bunnell and I am asking for your vote for the SW Polk Board Position 3.  My extensive family history in firefighting and my personal service as a past firefighter for SW Polk provide me with the background and experience to bring positive change to the Board.

I am running for the SW Polk Fire Board Position 3 for the following reasons:

  •  I believe we need to reenergize the board with new members focused on positive changes to provide quality fire protection for our residents.
  • I believe it is very important for the SW Polk Fire Board to make sure that our taxpayers receive the best and proper decisions for their money.
  • I believe it is important to recruit new and experienced volunteers to join SW Polk fire to provide the depth of coverage needed to keep our firefighters safe and provide quality fire protection.

I was a volunteer firefighter for SW Polk for approximately 15 years.  My father Mark Bunnell was a firefighter and chief for 30 years total.  I literally grew up at the Rickreall fire station, and the fire service has a special place in my heart.  I have lived and worked in Polk County for 45 years.  I love our community and want the best for our part of Polk County.

I am Brad Weaver and I’m running for the

SW Polk Fire Board Position #5.  The reasons I have decided to run for the position are

  •  The SW Polk Fire board needs members that understand the fire service and finance
  • To improve the district’s financial responsibility on how taxpayer money is used
  • Provide complete transparency of SW Polk Fire operations to our residents
  • Focus on empowering our staff and rebuilding the volunteer program

I was a volunteer firefighter for SW Polk Fire for 35 years, retiring as Volunteer Fire Chief three years ago.  I was very active with the Board of Directors the last 15 years of my career.  I was the voice to the board for the volunteer firefighters.

For 15 years I owned and operated a construction company.  I understand the importance of budgeting, fiscal responsibility, and treating people with fairness.  The last 14 years I have been the shipping and receiving manager for two different companies.

I have resided in Rickreall for 38 years with my wife and raised two children.  I have been active serving my community through my fire service as well as serving on the Dallas Dragon Varsity football chain crew for the last 20 years.

My professional background, firefighting experience, and community focus provide me a unique skillset that will allow me to excel as your SW Polk Fire Board Member in Position 5
